Things we definitively know: Samsung will be introducing the successor to the Galaxy S next month at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. All that, however, hasn’t stopped Korean newspaper ETnews from weighting in with its opinion. We’re not too sure on the authenticity of the image, but the specification predictions aren’t all that outlandish (especially considering what the Nexus S has in it and some of the dual-core phones we saw at CES). It’s all speculative for now, but your friends at BGR will be in Spain next month to report on all the hotness as it happens.

The offering is part of U.S. Cellular’s Belief Project which launched on October 1st.
U.S. CELLULAR ENTICES SMARTPHONE NEWCOMERS AND PROS WITH VALUE-PACKED $69.99 PRIMARY PLUS PLAN

Carrier Continues to Elevate Customer Experience with the Best Value in Wireless

CHICAGO – [November 2, 2010] – On the heels of launching “no contract after the first,” faster phone upgrades, Overage Cap and other industry-leading initiatives, U.S. Cellular today introduced a new $69.99 Primary Plus Plan that offers 5GB of data with unlimited text, picture and video messaging, and free GPS Navigation. The monthly service plan also comes with 450 voice minutes with free incoming calls from any phone, free nights and weekends and free mobile-to-mobile calls. It’s the latest addition to The Belief ProjectSM, launched last month by U.S. Cellular.

Backed by U.S. Cellular’s nationwide 3G network, the Primary Plus Plan is designed for customers making their first foray into the smartphone frenzy and those data lovers who spend plenty of time checking email, downloading apps and browsing the web.

“More and more customers are discovering that smartphones have many great features, like instant access to email, social networks and tons of applications, that can make their lives easier,” said Alan D. Ferber, executive vice president of operations for U.S. Cellular. “If you’re in the market for a smartphone, no other wireless carrier offers more value for less. This $69.99 plan, coupled with all of the unmatched benefits of The Belief Project, offers the best value in wireless.”

Launched Oct. 1, The Belief Project recognizes customer loyalty with national bundled rate plans that offer customers the freedom to enjoy benefits without signing a new contract – like new phones at promotional prices every 18 months that can be accelerated with points. Customers receive valuable rewards that can be redeemed for faster phone upgrades in as little as 10 to 11 months depending on their plans. Rewards may also be used for additional lines, phones, accessories, and ringtones. The Belief Project includes the industry’s only Phone Replacement program that allows customers to bring in their accidentally broken or malfunctioning phone and get a replacement of the same or a similar model. If a customer’s phone is lost or stolen, they can receive the same or similar replacement phone for $100. Customers also can save up to 5 percent on their monthly plans for setting up autopay and paperless billing.

The Belief Project also includes new family plans that may appeal to smartphone fans, including the Essential Plus Family Plan that comes with two lines for $139.99 per month with 1500 shared minutes, unlimited messaging and 5GB of data per line. The Premium Plus Family Plan offers two lines with unlimited minutes and messaging, 5GB of data per line, Phone Replacement and GPS Navigation for $179.99 per month.

“We’re continuing to pull out all the stops to show our customers that they are the most appreciated consumers in wireless,” Ferber added. “Our associates are happy to help customers choose the best Belief Plan for them and to show them how to get the most out of their smartphone.”

TiVo Will Offer Hulu Plus on TiVo Premiere DVRs

ALVISO, CA — (Marketwire) — 09/28/2010 — TiVo Inc. (NASDAQ: TIVO), the creator of and a leader in advanced television services including digital video recorders (DVRs) for consumers, content distributors and consumer electronics manufacturers, today announced that it has teamed with Hulu™ to provide TiVo® Premiere DVR subscribers with access to the full-array of Hulu Plus™ content streamed instantly to their TVs. The Hulu Plus channel will be available via subscription to all TiVo Premiere customers in the coming months.*

The agreement solidifies TiVo’s leading position as the only one-box solution on the market that delivers the most complete entertainment content to the TV with the unmatched ability to use one user interface and one remote to access a sea of broadband, linear and video on demand content.

Hulu Plus offers one of the deepest offerings of current TV shows on a streaming platform to subscribers in the U.S., including every episode of more than 45 current hit programs from ABC, FOX and NBC like Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy, Glee, Family Guy, The Office and 30 Rock. In addition, TV lovers with TiVo Premiere DVRs will be able to enjoy full series runs and numerous back seasons of dozens of classic shows like The X-Files, Law and Order: SVU, Arrested Development, Saturday Night Live, Miami Vice, Ugly Betty, Quantum Leap, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Roswell and Ally McBeal.

“Adding Hulu Plus to TiVo’s content offering was really the key missing piece to the programming portfolio that TiVo needed in order to deliver a truly comprehensive advanced television offering on the market today — bar none,” said Tara Maitra, VP & General Manager, Content Services and Ad Sales, TiVo Inc. “TiVo is the complete TV entertainment solution. No other service is as robust or offers consumers the ability to access live TV, Web video, and video on demand content from one box like TiVo does.”

Pete Distad, VP of Content Distribution for Hulu, said, “We are laser focused on helping people find and enjoy the world’s premium video content when, where and how they want it. Our goal for Hulu Plus is to provide as much consumer choice as possible, and Hulu Plus on TiVo’s Premiere DVR offering is a compelling way for us to drive our mission forward.”

VZ Navigator works flawlessly and many people launch VZ Navigator to the splash screen in order to activate the aGPS on the phone and then use this data in a third party application like Google Maps. Though it works, this technique needs to be repeated each time you need an instant GPS fix. Thanks to James Harris and his GPS Fix application, those days of constantly launching VZ Nav may be over. This new application activates the GPS and keeps its alive in the background by pinging the GPS for location data at user-determined intervals. It is a crude workaround that may drain your battery but it works in a pinch and is a better alternative than hacking your phone with QPST and modifying the settings for the GPSOne chipset, a technical procedure that could brick you phone. Yeah, we went there. For those that are interested, the GPSFix application is available from the Palm Beta Feed

So, what’s the deal? Did you buy a Palm Pre on Sprint and love it, but secretly wanted to jump to Verizon? Or maybe you don’t know what a Palm Pre Plus is? Let us know!
One of our connects just broke down why Verizon Wireless’ Palm Pre and Palm Pixi will get the Plus name treatment. It’s not exactly rocket science, but the Palm Pre Plus on Verizon will have 16GB of built-in storage instead of 8GB, and the Palm Pixi, as rumored, will have Wi-Fi. That’s all. Thanks, VZWGuy! UPDATE: PhoneArena has the spec sheet

We’ve heard that Verizon Wireless will be 100% carrying the Palm Pixi in addition to the Palm Pre, and that the official names will be the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus. We have also been told that the Palm Pre Plus (codenamed Russell) and Palm Pixi (codenamed Romo) will run the recently released webOS version 1.3.5 and not something newer at launch. Lastly, hardware specifications look to be identical to the original Sprint Pre and Pixi in terms of size. Thanks, phenomenalone!
