Considering the Dev Team had an iOS 4.3 jailbreak ready and waiting long before Apple pushed out iOS 4.3.1, the 10-day wait for an untethered jailbreak seems like an uncharacteristically long amount of time for our favorite iPhone hackers. Regardless, the day is upon us and PwnageTool for iOS 4.3.1 is now available for download. The new version supports the iPhone 4 (GSM only), iPhone 3GS, first-generation iPad, second-generation Apple TV and the third and fourth-generation iPad touch models. The iPad 2 is not currently supported. The new build also lacks support for Verizon Wireless’ iPhone 4 since iOS 4.3.1 is not yet available for the device. The DevTeam notes that those with unlocked devices should wait, as ultrasn0w has not yet been updated.

The Dev Team announced in a blog post today that the latest version of its iPhone hacking tool is now available. PwnageTool 4.1 does exactly what the name might suggest — it pwns iOS 4.1. Currently available for Mac computers only, the Dev Team’s latest creation will jailbreak any of of the following devices running the latest build of iOS:

• Apple TV 2G
• iPad (firmware 3.2.2)
• iPod touch 4G
• iPod touch 3G
• iPhone 4
• iPhone 3GS
• iPhone 3G

As you can see, not even the new Apple TV can hide from the Dev Team’s crusades. PwnageTool 4.1 is also capable of unlocking iPhones with little effort, though Apple’s latest baseband version still poses a bit of a challenge.

Dev-team member MuscleNerd has posted a one-minute YouTube video showing Apple’s little black-box running a jailbroken firmware. The folks responsible for the development of iOS jailbreaking software PwnageTool — the dev-team — have posted a quick one-minute video demoing their latest iteration of the tool. Using the SHAtter exploit discovered by pod2g several weeks ago, the dev-team has managed to jailbreak one of the new fourth generation iPod touch devices. The dev-team writes:

Although PwnageTool was a useful first test of a full iPod 4G jailbreak via SHAtter, it’s really overkill compared to the faster tools being developed. Its main use in PwnageTool will be for those with iPhone4’s, to allow updates while preserving the baseband and ultrasn0w carrier unlock. In any event, this is another exciting time for iPhone and iPod touch users…the cat and mouse game continues!

Short and sweet was the amount of time it took the iPhone Dev-Team to jailbreak iOS 4, at least as far the previous generation of Apple iHardware is concerned. Adding to yesterday’s release of redsn0w beta, PwnageTool 4.0 was set free this afternoon and promises to jailbreak/hacktivate devices provided a specific set of criteria are met. They’re back at it again. The iPhone dev-team has released an update to their popular jailbreaking software, PwnageTool, for Mac OS X. The new PwnageTool — version 3.1.5 — boasts the ability to properly jailbreak Apple’s recently released 3.1.3 iPhone/iPod Touch firmware. Before you get too excited, the dev-team does offer up this proclamation, “Unless you’ve personally observed a problem with the reporting of your battery percentage, there’s no reason to update to 3.1.3.” For those that feel the need for a jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch with the 3.1.3 firmware follow the read link; let us know how it goes in the comments.

Before anyone could completely list all their praises and complaints about the iPhone’s 2.1 Firmware, the iPhone Dev Team has already released the PwnageTool and QuickPwn for the update.
