This isn’t the first time rumors of a Brooklyn Apple Store have surfaced, but it is without question the first time they’ve come right from the horse’s mouth. BGR has learned that Apple is currently seeking Apple Solutions Consultants in Brooklyn, NY. Apple’s job listing clearly calls for candidates who would work at a retail sales location, and it is currently the only job listing found when Brooklyn is specified as the search location. While further details are scarce for the time being, we could be getting fairly close to a grand opening if Apple is already looking for a sales team.

It looks like dogs everywhere are in for some trouble as Apple reveals over one million iPhone 3G S models were sold this past weekend. Yep, that’s a whole lot of high pitched squealing — but apparently the “S” stands for “Sales”. Almost equally as impressive, it looks like Steve Jobs was somehow tracked down for comment:

Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning. With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.

Fair enough, Stevo… Over a million handsets sold and over six million OS 3.0 downloads in one weekend is definitely a solid showing. What’s more is that despite a few issues here and there, users seem overwhelmingly happy with their new handsets. How about you guys — satisfied customers or buyer’s remorse?

PS- Apple, your website is slathered with “3G S” and today’s release repeatedly mentions “3GS”. Work it out.

Beyond hitting 30.2 million consoles sold, Microsoft has also added approximately 3 million Xbox Live subscriptions since January, rounding out the Live community at around 20 million active members. Other notes:

• $14.5 billion — The amount of revenue Xbox 360 has generated in the US since its release.
• $5.9 billion — The amount of revenue Xbox 360 has generated for third-party publishers since its release.
• 8.3 — The average number of game titles sold per system.

Made slightly less impressive by earlier news this morning regarding Nokia’s reported claim of having shipped 13 million 5800 XMs 5310 XMs, LG has some news of its own today: 20 million QWERTY handsets sold worldwide. Considering the wide range of QWERTY handsets the company has produced over the years, the number 20 million might not seem overly staggering. What we find most impressive however, is LGs rate of growth when it comes to QWERTY sales. Have a look:

• 2005: 350,000 units sold
• 2006: 600,000 units sold
• 2007: 2.7 million units sold
• 2008: 12.7 million units sold

In other words, in the midst of the most severe economic downturn in decades, LG surged from nearly 3 million QWERTY handsets sold in 2007 to nearly 13 million handsets sold in 2008. Wow. There’s no question that a battle is taking place as far as handset trends are concerned. Design-wise, QWERTY and full touchscreen handsets are probably the two most desirable form factors right now; surprising perhaps, considering these two builds are on opposite ends of the spectrum. LG’s success with QWERTYs is good news for all you button lovers out there however… Despite the increasing numbers of new full touchscreen designs, don’t expect manufacturers to do away with buttons any time soon.
