Back in September we got our hands on some official AT&T documents which indicated that the LG Monaco, now being called the IQ, would be hitting AT&T’s lineup sometime in late November. However, as November draws to a close, we have yet to see any signs of said handset on Ma’ Bell here in the States. Enter, Canada. It appears as though our friends from Telus are preparing to roll out the LG IQ just in time for the holiday season. As previously reported, the specs on this full-QWERTY slider are pretty darn good: GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA (850/1900/2100MHz), 3.2″ WVGA touchscreen, 480 x 800 screen resolution, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, WiFi (b/g), GPS, fingerprint scanner, and 5 megapixel camera. This nice little package will be wrapped in LG’s S-Class user interface, run Windows Mobile 6.5, and, allegedly, be powered by the oh-so-tasty Snapdragon processor. If phones that would make most affordable digital point and shoot cameras blush are your thing, then you might want to take a moment to familiarize yourself with LG’s upcoming GC990 Louvre. Rushing past the awesome non-camera related specs that include a 3.2-inch 16:9 touchscreen display , Wi-Fi, aGPS, DNLA, TV-out, Bluetooth, XviD and DivX playback, the Louvre packs a powerful 12.1 megapixel shooter complete with a Schneider-Kreuznach lens and touch-focus capabilities. Film speed supposedly tops out at a whopping ISO 3200 for still images while video can be recorded at resolutions up to 720p at 30 fps. Sounds killer, right? We think so, too, with our only complaint being that a phone featuring the S-Class UI should have never been named after one of the most renowned art museums in the world. While Samsung might think that its two new Omnia Pro’s are the hottest new Windows Mobile devices on the planet, LG is confident that its done Samsung one better with the Aigen LG-GM730. Having layered its S-Class 3D UI on top of Windows Mobile 6.1 for a more visually appealing and user friendly user experience, the dual-band 7.2Mbps HSDPA Aigen also features a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, aGPS, FM radio tuner and a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus all in a body that is 11.9mm thick. As for color options, the Aigen is available with black, pink and lime chrome trim. LG says that the Aigen is available now in Korea, but bizarrely pricing has not been made public. Go figure.

Released in Europe last month, the LG Arena is a handset that easily can get lost amongst the 6,472,891 other full touchscreen handsets spread throughout the show floor this year. While it doesn’t exactly fill any gaps in that realm, it does come with an admirable spec sheet and LG’s new S-Class UI, which is most certainly an upgrade from the company’s earlier efforts. We already saw a bit of LG’s revamped UI on our new phone-crush, the LG GD900, and we really do like it as a supplement for a true smartphone OS. In terms of functionality, it’s not quite what Motorola has achieved with the Evoke’s new Linux-based OS but what it lacks in go it certainly makes up for in show. Sort of. Regardless, the great look of the handset and UI along with the 5 megapixel camera, 3-inch WVGA display, FM transmitter, aGPS, Wi-Fi and the rest of the specs on this able handset will surely appeal to plenty of casual users.
