Channing Tatum Debuts New Gambit Accent In Avengers: Doomsday Promo Video
Of all the ways MCU fans could have expected to get another glimpse at Channing Tatum's Gambit prior to the release of the much-anticipated "Avengers: Doomsday," a Dunkin' commercial wasn't one. Be that as it may, the Cajun X-Man let his voice be heard in a November 2026 Dunkin' promo, also giving fans a look at one of his first interactions with a "Fantastic Four" hero in the film. Well, sort of.
The Dunkin'-"Avengers" promo, titled "Incoming Munckins Incursion!," advertises the brand's "Avengers" inspired menu, featuring Tatum's version of Remy LeBeau bantering with "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" character H.E.R.B.I.E. over donuts and coffee — a crossover somehow less confusing than their cross-pollination with Dunkin' products. As the ominous threat of multiple Earths colliding with each other draws near — an event H.E.R.B.I.E. displays using Dunkin' Munchkins — Gambit suggests he and the rest of the Avengers "need fuel for the fight." He then rallies up the off-screen team and offers up the "Fantastic Four's" helper robot to buy breakfast.
Strange as it may be, the notion that you can mostly understand what Gambit is saying in the Dunkin' ad is a promising sign that Tatum's speech in "Doomsday" might be improved over the comically over-exaggerated dialect he adopted for "Deadpool & Wolverine." Although the commercial's tone is humorous, it perhaps indicates a more grounded version of Gambit in the MCU, one that requires you to understand all of his lines.
Channing Tatum was given a second chance to play Gambit
Channing Tatum's turn as the fan-favorite character continues after a rocky beginning. After Canadian stuntman James Bamford had his Remy LeBeau cameo cut from "X2: X-Men United" and Taylor Kitsch played a much larger part as the kinetically-charged card-throwing mutant in the non-MCU Marvel movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," Tatum was slated to take over the role as the leading man in an aptly titled "Gambit" solo film.
The project, which was originally set for an October 2016 release, was marred by a revolving door of directors and ultimately spiraled into development hell. It suffered at the hands of the Disney-Fox acquisition, which wiped out any future non-MCU "X-Men" movies after 2020's "The New Mutants." The "21 Jump Street" star was given a second chance at his rendition of the "Ragin' Cajun" in a surprise support role in 2024's 20th Century Fox love-letter "Deadpool & Wolverine" — the X-Men's first major MCU project, as a whole.
What could have been a brief cameo or one-off performance, like Chris Evans' return as the wise-cracking "Fantastic Four" hero Johnny Storm/Human Torch, instead became his opportunity to make a name for himself in multiple films. Time will only tell what role Tatum's Gambit will play in "Avengers: Doomsday," and perhaps future MCU projects. All there is for now is the super-powered card master dealing the hand he was dealt, demanding Dunkin' iced coffee from a robot, rather than saving the world from Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom.
