  • Eric was on the front lines, so to speak, when Apple unveiled its first iPhone. He hosted PC World's stress test video, putting the attractive phone through the proverbial wringer—dropping it, scratching it, and casually tossing it onto the pavement.
  • As a result of his online column at PC World, "The Human Element," he received a fellowship at the Western Knight Center for Specialized Journalism at UC Berkeley.
  • Eric's lifelong dream of pursuing music and having his own recording studio was made possible by personal computers and the digital audio revolution. His original music has appeared in hundreds of TV show episodes.

Experience

Eric's first writing job was with a trade magazine about cable TV engineering. After moving to San Francisco, he held the role of associate editor at CNET from 2000 to 2003, where he edited features, columns, and a newsletter in addition to coordinating content about enterprise security and networking. While serving as a senior associate editor at PC World from 2003 to 2008, he managed freelance writers and daily website postings while editing and penning feature stories, copy, reviews, and blogs. He has written white papers for the Environmental Protection Agency as well as consumer electronics product reviews, including digital camera reviews for Steve's Digicams. In addition to working as a contributor to BGR, Eric authors articles for Tom's Guide and writes about politics, culture, and technology on Substack under the heading Stay Skeptical.

Education

Eric holds a bachelor's degree in English literature from San Diego State University, with an emphasis in creative writing.
