Gaming-oriented furniture is far from an original concept. Some PC owners swear by gaming chairs to achieve maximum comfort at their setups, though smart money buys a cheaper office chair instead. There are even hybrid sit-to-stand desks for gamers who prefer taking on opponents in a chair, on their feet, or both. This doesn't change, however, the notion that a recent Xbox collaboration with Ikea is a strange marriage, to say the least. Xbox Wire announced on October 1, 2026, a new collection of gaming-inspired furniture, YXSTABY, that was made available the same day.

The set consists of nine furnishings designed to enhance gamers' performance with maximum comfort and handy storage space. "At IKEA, we believe gaming deserves a place in the home that feels just as thoughtful, comfortable and personal as any other everyday activity," IKEA Product Developer Philip Dilé said. "With YXSTABY, we worked closely with XBOX to reimagine familiar forms into playful, functional pieces that make it easier for people to bring their love of gaming into the spaces where they live." Though unorthodox both in design and function, some gamers and Xbox owners could embrace the furniture the same way customers swear by certain IKEA smart home electronics.

YXSTABY introduced an array of Xbox-themed furniture

YXSTABY may not be as out there as goods like Sega's strangest gaming chair accessory, the Sega Action Chair, which leveled up standard gaming chair setups with lean-activated microswitches as a D-pad substitute and buttons designed to turn gamers' bodies into the controller. However, unsuspecting visitors who walk into a house or room decorated with YXSTABY furniture may be greeted by unusual sights like an Xbox green thumb stick stool, which also comes in black, and D-pad cushions resting on a slender gaming lounge chair with a headrest.

The collection also features a black or white gaming controller display box and gaming TV stand on castors, a gray and oak veneer gaming side table on castors, a white gaming monitor stand, a 13-inch silver gaming D-pad controller platter, and a white gaming laptop support with storage. Some Reddit users quickly took notice of the new gaming furniture collection and expressed their excitement for it. "Okay some of these I need," one said. "I actually like that TV stand and I kind of want the D-pad bowl. The hanging cases are so awesome too."

Others, though interested in IKEA and Xbox's partnership, were underwhelmed by its offerings. "While I like this collab, I'm a bit disappointed in the offerings," another user wrote. "Other than the stool and + pillow, the other products are really simple and don't really make me think of Xbox." Some were more critical of products like the D-pad stool, which they argued looked uncomfortable.
