UGREEN's Cat Charger Is Powerful While Still Looking Cute

If there's one thing tech companies love, it's a sleek, futuristic design. Back in the 2000s, this was new and exciting, but 20 years later, it's starting to get pretty old. Thankfully, some brands agree and have begun releasing cuter, more visually-interesting alternatives. Take UGREEN, for instance: It recently unveiled its new 45W charger shaped like a cat wearing a hoodie. It has a detachable body to prevent damage to the prongs, and you can choose between beige or dark grey variants.

There are a couple of catches: It's only available in China and has a single USB-C port. Still, at roughly $13, this is an ideal charger for aesthetically-minded buyers on a budget. It's not the first time UGREEN has bucked industry trends either; the company's robot-shaped Uno charger is adorable and arguably one of the best UGREEN gadgets you can buy.

Though there's no planned international release, if you're able to get your hands on one, it should work in most regions. That's because this UGREEN cat charger accepts inputs between 100V and 240V at 50/60Hz, making it compatible with virtually every major electrical standard in the world. Just be aware that you might need an adapter to make the plug fit your country's sockets.

To use this charger, remove the detachable base, plug it into a wall, and connect whatever you're looking to charge via USB-C cable. On paper, it isn't the most powerful device around. That makes sense: UGREEN's products tend to be slightly cheaper than those from Anker or Belkin. On the other hand, if you're unsure which mobile accessory brand is best for you, starting with less-expensive options might make sense. 

Generally, you can expect a 45W charger to take your phone from dead to 50% in about 30 minutes, and to 80% in roughly an hour. UGREEN claims that its cat charger can get an iPhone 17 to 50% in just 20 minutes, though. 45W may even be enough to power your Chromebook, but most laptops require at least 65W to prevent their batteries from dwindling while plugged in. Additionally, this is a GaN charger, meaning its internal components are made from gallium nitride instead of silicon. 

This comes with several advantages such as lower heat production, more-efficient charging, and a final product that's smaller and more lightweight. If you don't need to charge multiple devices simultaneously, UGREEN's cat charger would be a fun addition to your toolkit.
