All 5 Seasons Of A Hit Sci-Fi Bounty Hunter Series Are Streaming For Free
Many great sci-fi series fly under the radar, some of which don't get to enjoy a five-season run like "Killjoys" did. In many ways, the Canadian space opera can be chalked up as a success, despite not being as widely known as it should be. The good news, though, is that "Killoys" is available to stream for free on Tubi, so it isn't too late for fans to discover the show. Created by Michelle Lovretta, "Killjoys" tells the story of three bounty hunters — Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen), Johnny (Aaron Ashmore), and D'avin (Luke Macfarlane) — as they travel a galaxy known as the Quad.
Of course, their job isn't as simple as bringing in bounties, as the heroes have pasts that will eventually catch up with them. Cue the mayhem. "Killjoys" is one of the most underrated sci-fi Westerns out there, and it's bound to appeal to fans of "Firefly" and other shows about crews traveling beyond the stars. The show is full of action and laughs, and the protagonists are a lot of fun to spend time with. That said, how did critics respond to "Killjoys" back in the day?
What critics said about Killjoys
"Killjoys" was positively received by critics, with many praising it for being an unpretentious space adventure yarn. Writing for The Guardian, Graeme Virtue compared the show to slamming back tequilas in an age where so much television aimed to be classier. "Killjoys... is a big, exuberant dollop of summer blockbuster fun (albeit filmed in Canada on a fraction of the budget)."
Charlie Jane Anders of Gizmodo shared a similar view, noting that "Killjoys" is everything viewers could want from a space opera. "[It] has just the right mix of guns, high-tech knives, assassins, cage fights, missions to hostile planets, dark secrets, tiny robot weapons and general space headbutting thrills to be the perfect treat for Friday nights."
Now that the show is streaming for free, sci-fi fans owe it to themselves to check out "Killjoys." What's more, it isn't the only great show you can watch without spending any money, as Stephen King's most underrated sci-fi series is also streaming for free. Between both of these shows, you will have more than enough entertainment to keep you occupied for a while.
