Amazon has unveiled five new security cameras under its Blink brand, featuring a couple of exciting additions. Blink is known for affordable security cameras, with offerings like the Mini 2K+ that punch above their price bracket. The highlights of the brand's new lineup are the Blink Frontier XR+ and Blink Mini 4K+ security cameras. The Frontier XR+ is pitched as a trail cam or security camera for folks with massive properties that are impossible to cover with traditional wireless security cameras, while the Mini 4K+ is the brand's first 4K security camera. As a budget brand, Blink hadn't entered the 4K resolution category until now.

Along with other new products, the Spotlight 2K+ and Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ also mark the brand's entry into new product categories. For example, the Spotlight 2K+ is the brand's first battery-powered spotlight camera, whereas the Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ is Blink's first indoor-outdoor camera that also supports pan and tilt. Unlike other models, the new Blink Outdoor 2K XR+ succeeds the company's Outdoor XR+ security camera.

All five cameras are currently on preorder. The Mini 4K+ and Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ will go on sale starting October 27, while the other three cameras will ship on January 1, 2027. In terms of pricing, the Frontier XR+ will cost $200 with the Sync Module XR+ module, whereas the Outdoor 2K XR+ is priced at $150 with the module. The Blink Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+, Mini 4K+, and Spotlight 2K+ carry a price tag of $50, $80, and $120, respectively.

Frontier XR+ has a 7,000 feet range

Part of Blink's XR+ lineup, the Frontier XR+ and Outdoor 2K XR+ boast extended-range connectivity, with the former being the brand's farthest-reaching camera to date. While the XR and XR+ cameras aren't new, the existing XR cameras don't offer the same range as the Frontier XR+. Like other XR+ cameras, including the new Outdoor 2K XR+, it leverages Blink's Sync Module XR+ to enable the extended range.

While the Frontier XR+ has a line-of-sight range of 7,000 feet, the Outdoor 2K XR+ can reach up to 2,700 feet. The range drops with obstructions in between. To put the range of these cameras into context, traditional security cameras with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi typically have a 300-500 feet range when in direct line of sight to a Wi-Fi router, which drops when deployed in the real world. With such a long range, Amazon is targeting home and property owners with expansive properties that can't be covered with traditional security cameras. Although you might find long-range wireless security cameras from niche, specialized brands, mainstream security camera brands like Arlo, Eufy, Ring, and Tapo don't have direct competitors to Blink's XR+ range.

As you can expect, there are several caveats with getting the most range out of these two XR+ cameras. This is in addition to the common disadvantages of Blink security cameras. For example, you'll need to mount the Sync Module XR+ outside to enable direct line of sight to the cameras. Moreover, as the cameras move farther from the module, the video resolution drops from 2K to 1080p, and you lose two-way audio support. With Outdoor 2K XR+, the video resolution can drop to 720p.

Blink finally had a 4K-capable security camera

The Blink Mini 4K+, which is another exciting option in the brand's new lineup, is rated for both indoor and outdoor use. It's a wired security camera and can capture in up to 4K (3,840 x 2,160p) resolution. It also has a 138-degree field of view and supports infrared night vision and dual-band Wi-Fi 6, which is crucial for the camera's higher video resolution. Because it has no built-in light, you don't get color night vision. While 4K cameras are new to Blink, several manufacturers currently offer 4K resolution security cameras.

The Blink Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+, which can also be used both indoors and outdoors, can record in up to 1440p, supports pan and tilt adjustments, as the name suggests, and has a 136-degree field of view. However, unlike the Mini 4K+, it includes a built-in spotlight that triggers when the camera senses motion to deter unwanted activity.

The Spotlight 2K+ is primarily an outdoor camera that comes with a built-in battery. It has multiple built-in LEDs that can reach 400 lumens to illuminate the area in front when motion is detected. It can also record in 1440p and comes with a built-in security siren. Like the company's other new security cameras, it's limited to IR night vision in complete darkness and is rated IP65 for dust and water resistance.

Finally, each of the five new Blink cameras supports the company's optional Blink AI plan, which offers access to AI-generated video descriptions of any motion events, cloud video storage, and much more. That said, you do get the basics without any subscription, but you are severely limited.
