This Affordable Router Looks Ridiculous, But Scalpers Still Buy It To Resell

Ever thought that the "Minions" and "Despicable Me" movies would produce something other than highly entertaining films and a boatload of Facebook memes from grandmas? Well, a few router nerds found that a "Minions" themed Wi-Fi router had been made, and it's actually pretty good. The Tri-Band, up to 6GHz router, equipped with a 2.5Gb WAN for delivering gigabit over Ethernet, can work within a limited mesh system and is 6E-rated. All for $119.99. Okay, it's the same price as the router it's based on, the AXE5400, but the "Minions" themed router has dropped to as low as $59.99 and in recent months neared it again at $69.99 during a sale.

It's well spec'd out and is more than enough for a majority of households; it's just that it comes in the shape of a "Minion." The funny thing is, the mesh system apparently only works with the "Bob" version of the router, which lacks 6E connectivity. While the cheaper "Bob" can be used independently, it'll also act as a mesh node on the network when paired with the $119.99 "Kevin" model.

According to RTings, it has "impressive top speeds" when it comes to the 5GHz and 6GHz networks, something that drove people to buy it until it wound up out of stock – on top of the low price. This hasn't stopped scalpers from trying to skim off the top, with ludicrous prices on eBay proving that these might be the most ridiculous people going. Do they ever check if Amazon has them in stock?

The Minions router scalpers aren't very aware

As of this writing, some listings on eBay, the "Bob" router (priced at around $42.99 on Amazon and in stock), are asking for $80 and more — in some cases, the price of "Kevin" brand new. "Kevin," meanwhile, is anywhere between $229 and $350, and one is listed as shipped from South Korea, with an added $27 for delivery. As of writing, there are 81 watchers, or as we say under our breath, "rubes."

Thankfully there's only a single page of listings for this, and it is interspersed with non-related routers for sale. Still, scalpers will never die out, but when did they latch onto just about anything that went momentarily viral? No one was pining for a "Minions" router, but 81 people are apparently watching a listing on eBay for it, so what do people know?

If you switch over to "Sold," you can see some people who got snapped up in the rush after it sold out on Amazon very briefly. $220, $320, but thankfully, it seems like some people have managed to score a deal — even if it is a few dollars off. Someone managed to grab a "Bob" router for less than half price.

Davolink is going to start making non-Minion routers for the U.S.

The "Minions" routers are made by the South Korean company Davolink, which primarily sells enterprise networking equipment to public services and schools in its home country. This appears to be the company's first major splash in the U.S. or the West in general, as its Amazon page lists no other products at the time of writing. However, it looks as if the company is going forward with moving into the U.S. over the coming years. In October 2025, it announced (via Yahoo!Finance) a partnership with Faction Networks, which is aiming to be a "Made-in-USA" networking company as the Trump administration cracks down on Chinese-made routers.

In fact, the press release points out that it is gunning for the slot that will be opening up as Chinese routers are pushed out of the U.S. market. The pair are aiming for a Q3 2026 release of their "commercial product line," so maybe there will be a "Stuart" "Minion" Wi-Fi 7 router in the coming months. One can only hope, as the "Minions" crave evil, and what's more evil than the Internet?
