Owners Say These Are The Most Reliable Robot Vacuums
Robot vacuums were once a thing of science fiction. Then, they were luxury items. Now, as more companies enter the market and families and individuals are busier than ever, these cleaning appliances are becoming a standard part of life. It makes sense: they map your floors and run autonomously, dutifully picking up dirt and debris. Many of the latest models can detect objects in their path, like a pair of socks or piece of LEGO, and navigate around them. Higher-end ones can scale small inclines and get right up to the edges of walls and furniture. Some even combine dry vacuuming with wet mopping. With so many options, how do you choose?
Based on customer sentiment online, trusted reviews including ones from our own writers, and my own experience having used and reviewed dozens of robot vacuums, there are a few products that rank among the most reliable vacuum brands and specific models that excel in various ways. And you might be surprised by the names that are (and aren't) included. If you're on the hunt for a new robot vacuum, these are good options to consider.
Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete
Ranked as BGR's best robot vacuum you can buy in 2026, the $1,700 Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete has scored high marks for dust and debris removal from trusted sources. Its stellar performance is largely thanks to 35,000Pa suction power with a pressure plate that promises a better seal as it scoots along the floors getting dirt from between the floorboards and beneath carpet fibers. Launched in September 2026, it's the brand's thinnest vacuum yet at just 7.95cm, which means it can get under low-clearance furniture, like a bed, couch, or dining room hutch.
It uses cameras and AI software to spot items in its way, and can recognize more than 280 different objects. An arm on the side extends to brush against baseboards and in corners so fewer manual touch-ups are needed to finish the job. Able to scale a 4.2-centimeter single step and up to 8-centimeter double ones, it can easily go from one room over a small landing to another without getting stuck.
The robot vacuum auto-empties into its dock that also washes mop pads. Speaking of which, it wet mops, too.
With 4.1 stars on Amazon, customers say it's good at reaching edges and crossing tall thresholds. They also praise the vacuum's effective smart mapping. Dreame is a robot vacuum brand that's actually worth trying.
Roborock Saros 20
Consistently among the busiest booths at trade shows like CES in Las Vegas, Roborock is known for pushing new technologies, including models with a mechanical arm that can physically pick up items and put them in a designated spot.
The $1,600 Roborock Saros 20 launched in January 2026 and it's a simple but effective robot vacuum. Named among the best robot vacuums by several trusted review sites, it reportedly excels at cleaning coverage. With 36,000Pa suction power, reviewers say it works equally well on both flooring and carpets, and even pet hair does not get stuck in the brushes. It can raise about an inch in height, making it possible to go from hardwood flooring to a fluffy carpet or area rug. Some tests have even reported it climbing a 2.25-inch incline. BGR's Roborock Saros 20 reviewer says it does a "remarkable job" with cleaning and he loves that the camera can capture a photo of your pet for you to see while you're traveling; you can even talk to a furry friend through the vacuum!
The robot vacuum has a self-emptying and cleaning dock and also wet mops, purportedly removing even tough stains. More than 4,000 buyers on Amazon give it 4.2 stars, impressed with the mapping system and ability to fit under low furniture. One customer says they have five cats and this vacuum not only picks up their hair but also successfully dodges cat toys. Across Reddit discussions, Roborock is often considered among the best as well.
Anker Eufy Omni 28
I reviewed the Anker eufy Omni E28 robot vacuum, which has since been replaced by the upgraded $1,300 Anker eufy Omni E35. The new model boasts more advanced navigation and obstacle avoidance, better edge cleaning, and improved self-cleaning and drying. But it does away with one of the coolest features of that previous-gen model: A removable portable deep cleaner. Ideal for tending to spills before they set and become permanent stains, you can spray solution, and pull out the deep cleaner. From there, all you had to do was turn it on, spray water from the nozzle, and glide back and forth to clean.
Beyond that, it's a powerful robot vacuum with 20,000Pa suction, a built-in camera, self-emptying dock, and up to 180-minute runtime (for dry vacuuming, 110 minutes with wet mopping, too). The easy-to-use Anker eufy app makes remote control and cleaning customization simple. More than 57,000 Amazon shoppers give this robot vacuum a seal of approval with 4.4 stars, saying it's perfect for households with pets. Many also say they appreciate the well-made app experience for remote control and customization.
Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni
I reviewed the $1,100 Ecovac Deebot X8 Pro Omni last year, and it has since been replaced by the $800 X9 Pro Omni. But some trusted sources have compared the two and suggest that the X8 Pro Omni may still be a better option for most households because it reportedly does a better job on hard floors and carpets and offers superior stain removal with mopping. Though the X9 Pro Omni might be a better option for pet owners since it's supposedly more effective at lifting pet hair from carpeting and can better navigate around furniture.
Nonetheless, the X8 Pro Omni has only been on the market for a year, and I find that it cleans wonderfully right up to the edges of walls, can handle small inclines, and the dock does a good job of extracting debris and dirty water once you're done cleaning. Though it is somewhat loud, a detail BGR's X8 Pro Omni reviewer also observed.
Amazon shoppers give it four stars, applauding its performance, ease of use, and mapping. Our reviewer called it "the best robotic mopping could get" at the time of his review, appreciating its mapping capabilities, performance, versatile cleaning modes, and app. He does, however, point out that it runs rather slowly.
Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal
The $1,300 Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal incorporates a feature that you'll find in some cordless upright vacuums as well: A UV light that can illuminate dust and debris in front of it. This is useful when manually vacuuming since it will encourage you to take a few more passes on an area you thought was already clean. But what's the purpose in a robot vacuum? When this camera detects that a spot wasn't cleaned properly, it will bank the information and return to finish the job. It's another layer of intelligence for an already autonomous machine.
This robot vacuum has other useful stand-out features, too. Perhaps most dramatic is its fan that blows debris away from the edges of walls to then vacuum up in its path, a different strategy from other edge-cleaning models. The dock has a bagless bin to collect dust too, which means there's some manual clean-up but you don't have to worry about the recurring cost of replacement bags. It navigates obstacles well, but its app experience is lacking. That's a small price to pay, however, given that you can get the vacuum-only version (no mopping capability) for under $800 when on sale. With 4.1 stars, Amazon shoppers say it's quiet, runs efficiently, and picks up dirt well. The only issue is that its mapping isn't great. But for open-concept homes and smaller apartments, it might be the perfect option.
