Budget Android Phones With More Storage Than You'd Expect

If you look at the latest high-end flagship phones, you might notice they cost close to $1,000 or more for a 256GB model. And if you want 512GB of storage instead? Add another couple hundred dollars to the price tag. Storage is expensive, and big-name phone brands are hiking up prices across the board. But it's not all doom and gloom; some good, cheap Android phones with high storage capacities are out there.
We scoured online retailers for Android phones with at least 256GB of storage that are priced under $300. We also checked customer ratings, user feedback, and professional reviews to make sure each Android phone we recommend is worth your consideration. If you're looking for an affordable phone with a lot of storage, this list might give you more than you'd expect. We explain how we selected these three budget Android phones at the end of the article.
Motorola Moto G Stylus
You can find the Motorola Moto G Stylus (2024) at retailers like Amazon and Walmart for under $200, with up to 256 GB of internal storage. The newer Motorola Moto G Stylus (2025) lists for $400, but it often goes on sale for $300 or less. Beyond its generous storage, reviewers also praise the Moto G Stylus for its high-quality display and impressive performance. In fact, the 2025 Moto G Stylus is one of the best budget Android phones heading into 2027 because few options offer built-in stylus support and premium AI capabilities at this price point.
However, it's important to note some key disadvantages of buying Motorola phones. For one thing, Motorola has never been known for camera quality, and that holds true for the Moto G Stylus lineup. Motorola also tends to cut off security updates relatively quickly. The 2024 Moto G Stylus will no longer receive updates after May 2027, and the 2025 version will lose support after March 2028. These are exceptional phones for the price, but keep in mind you have limited time to use them safely.
TCL 60 XE Nxtpaper 5G
The TCL 60 XE Nxtpaper 5G is part of TCL's budget-friendly Android phone lineup. The 256GB model lists for $285, but it's often on sale for $230 or less. What sets the Nxtpaper apart from other phones is its namesake paper-like display modes that are easy on the eyes and optimized for reading. If you're a fan of smartphone-sized e-readers for on-the-go reading, it makes sense to consider a Nxtpaper device that functions as both a phone and e-reader, especially since the 60 XE has enough storage to hold as many books and magazines as you could want.
Unfortunately, TCL is also among the Android brands with the worst software support. TCL devices typically receive security updates for only two years after launch, which means the 60 XE Nxtpaper 5G will likely lose support after May 2027. Using an out-of-date phone is risky because it increases the likelihood that hackers can exploit vulnerabilities and access your data. However, using an Nxtpaper phone as a fully offline e-reader after its end-of-life date is still a perfectly valid option.
Samsung Galaxy A26 5G
The Samsung Galaxy A26 5G hovers around $300 and dips below that during sales. It's arguably the best Samsung phone under $300 in 2026 because it offers a strong battery, a great camera, and 256GB of internal storage. The A26 5G also includes Samsung's advanced AI features like Object Eraser and My Filters, making it one of the most capable phones for image editing in the budget price range.
Unlike many other budget phones, the Galaxy A26 5G comes with Samsung's guarantee of six years of security updates from its original launch date of March 28, 2025. That means the A26 5G could last until March 2031, impressive longevity for a sub-$300 phone. Even Android phones with the longest software support guarantees only go as far as seven years, so spending more would only extend your phone's lifespan by a small amount, and it wouldn't necessarily buy you more storage than this budget Android provides.
How we selected these high-storage budget Android phones
To create a useful list of budget Android phones with surprisingly high storage capacities, we searched for well-reviewed models with a 256GB storage option at a list price below $300, or currently available for under $300 at the time of writing. We chose only phones still available from major retailers and still receiving security updates from their manufacturers.
Each phone on this list holds at least a 4-star Amazon customer rating as of the time of writing. We also reviewed user reviews to ensure none of these phones have commonly reported defects that would likely affect your experience if you decide to buy one.
