You Can Customize Your Roku Remote So It Stops Looking So Boring - Here's How
Have you ever gazed at your Roku streaming device and wished it didn't look so boring? Skin customization is one of the best ways to add personality and style to everyday devices, and a company called MightySkins decided to craft an entire library of Roku device and remote wraps. Skins are available for multiple Roku devices, including the Roku Ultra, Express, Streaming Stick 4K, as well as the Voice Remote Pro and Streambar SE.
There's a dizzying array of patterns and colors to choose from, too; the Ultra model alone has 22 pages of skins to look through (with 20 selections per page). Prices start at $15 for the matte finish, but MightySkins offers Carbon Fiber and Glossy Glitter options for even more personalization. The manufacturer uses 3M vinyl with air-release technology for each skin, which is precision-cut to fit your Roku gear, and is both scratch- and fade-resistant. We also like that this peel-and-stick product doesn't leave any residue behind. Mightyskin's website only shows listings for Roku's 2022 tech or older, but don't worry. You should be able to use these skins on most of the brand's newer set-tops, dongles, and remotes, too. Just make sure you're shopping for the correct model, because an Ultra skin won't work for a Streaming Stick, or vice versa.
You can customize everything
MightySkins has actually been around for a while — since 2008, according to the manufacturer — and Roku streaming devices and remotes are only a small portion of the business. As a matter of fact, MightySkins makes custom wraps for several other streaming brands, including Amazon and Google. You'll also be able to customize other common hardware, such as laptops, game consoles, phones, drones, and more. Generally speaking, it looks like most streaming and smart home devices cost somewhere between $15-45.
You can even create a custom skin all your own using MightySkins' Create Your Own feature; just click Create Your Own at the top-left of the home page, then select the hardware category and type of hardware you'd like to make a skin for. Click Design Now on the product page, and you'll be taken to an image-editing screen with various templates and tools to choose from. MightySkins also sells vinyl wrapping paper that you can add your own design to.
Adding a skin to something like a Roku Ultra or Streaming Stick 4K may not be something most folks will end up doing, but doing so could help make it easier to locate a lost device. It could also make it simpler to differentiate between two similar-looking models, which bodes particularly well for Roku devotees since it can be extremely difficult to identify a Roku device on just its appearance.
