  • Willow lives in a house full of retro gaming hardware, 80s computers, and every random gadget you can think of. Her first console was the N64, though running around Castle Town as young Link at four years old probably doesn't count as "gaming."
  • She's passionate about consumer rights issues such as data privacy and repairability, and is always on the lookout for new open source or European alternatives to big tech products.
  • To become a more technical writer, Willow is currently studying computer science and programming — her latest project is making a 1-bit pixel art game for the Playdate.

Experience

Willow started authoring short stories as a hobby when she was 11 years old and bases all of her educational and work-related decisions around her love for language and writing. She worked in the restaurant industry during university and spent a year teaching English in Japan. Driven by her lifelong love of video games, Willow began her professional writing career in the field of technology, contributing to Digital Trends, SlashGear, and BGR. More recently, her coverage focuses on the effect big tech and AI have on our lives.

Education

Willow has a bachelor's degree in English literature from The Open University. She also has certifications in Japanese language proficiency and teaching English as a foreign language.
