Experience
James' interest in tech began in the 80s with an Amstrad CPC64, in an age when games came on a cassette tape. He was soon showing his elementary school teachers how to use visual databases, and taking apart PCs (sometimes he put them back together, too). James has had a diverse career, having lived in Japan for seven years as an English Teacher, data center technician, and later turning his attention to blogging. He joined MakeUseOf as a staff writer, before becoming Reviews Editor, and later, Chief Technical Officer. He's since gone freelance with bylines at MatterAlpha, Trusted Reviews, Windows Report, and Mac Observer. He's authored hundreds of reviews, tutorials, and guides on all aspects of computing and consumer hardware.
Education
James attended Sheffield University, where he earned a BSc in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science. He's CompTIA A+ and Network+ certified.
